Azerbaijan intends to produce air-to-air, air-to-ground missiles
Azerbaijan intends to produce air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles in the near future, said minister defense industry Yaver Jamalov.
The ministry has already reached an initial agreement with leading world companies on the production of these missiles, Jamalov told reporters on Saturday.
He noted that the program on state order for 2016 have been fulfilled successfully.
“Compared to last year, in 2016, the amount of defense products provided to the country’s power structures increased by 1.6 times and the types by 1.8 times,” added the minister.
Jamalov said, Azerbaijan is selling defense products to several countries, including the United States, South Korea and Africa.
The minister noted that to date, plants of Azerbaijan’s Defense Industry Ministry have manufactured 1,160 kinds of defense products and equipment that meet the highest standards. Azerbaijan has signed several contracts worth $110 million on the sale of defense products, Jamalov said, adding that the contracts are being implemented successfully.
He said, that this year Azerbaijan for the first time has started serial production of special-purpose “Yalguzag” sniper rifle, PG-7V grenade for 40 mm anti-tank grenade launcher, military tent UST-56 for 6 and 24 persons, M6 and M12 mine detonators.
Jamalov went on to say that the ministry has already started testing machine guns for offensive purpose, automatic grenade launchers, “Istiqlal-1T” sniper rifles, collimators for cold shooting, etc.
