Ministers of Defence of Russia and Armenia signed Agreement on Joint force grouping of two countries
Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and the Minister of Defence of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan have signed the Agreement on Joint force grouping of two countries in the Caucasus region.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin approved and ordered signing of this document. According to him, it will provide adequate response to armed offensive as well as other challenges and threats.
It is reported that 102nd Russian military base in Armenia and units of the Armenian Armed Forces will be involved in the grouping.
The force grouping is mainly designed to cover Russian and Armenian borders in cooperation with forces and means of the CSTO Collective Safety System.
Heads of the military departments have also approved the Cooperation Plan for 2017.
